Peaceful Protest

Take a Seat!

Imagine you are Senior year in high school...
You see your best friends everyday. In between classes, during class with friends, even eat lunch with your best friend. Are you picturing it?

Now try picturing this...
Senior year and you're in a building with JUST your senior class. No lower classmen friends. No little Freshman, Sophomores or Juniors.
Sounds idea but imagine having friends in a lower class. You wouldn't get to see them for your last year in college.

Holt High School's did just that. The school board planned on moving the Senior class into a separate building and freshman in another building with Sophomores and Juniors.  As you can imagine, the Seniors weren't too happy about it. So they decided to make a statement. These students said how they felt by having a "sit it" to protest. They even involved twitter, trying to get #StoptheSwitch to trend.

These students felt so passionate about something that they worked together to solve a problem on their own. Isn't that what we try to teach our students? As a future educator, I think it's awesome that these students are communicating effectively and working together to make a change. Amazing how students have found a way to voice their independence.

It may seem like a childish reason to be upset but when you're making memories that last you a lifetime... you'll truly fight for what is important to you.
